KRYPTEN announces the release of a banknote with 3D-Gram-C® security patch

Jun 04, 2021.

KRYPTEN expands its series of 3D-Gram® security features for polymer and paper banknotes. At the end of 2021, we will launch a house banknote with a new security element – a two-colour photopolymer 3D-Gram-C® patch with a colour-changing effect. The dynamic colour-changing effect is easy to remember and identify. Besides, photopolymer materials and state-of-the-art proprietary technologies create a security feature that is highly resistant to counterfeiting and imitation.

It will be possible to request a sample of the banknote to study the security effects of the 3D-Gram-C® patch after its official release. Today we introduce the design of a new security feature. The house banknote commemorates two significant events for holographic science – the discovery of the photoelectric effect and the invention of the holographic method of recording images.

"The future cannot be predicted, but futures can be invented" is a famous phrase of the Hungarian scientist Dennis Gabor. 50 years ago, in 1971, he was awarded the Nobel Prize "For his invention and development of the holographic method". In 1947, while working on improving the electron microscope, Gabor formulated the theory behind the holographic method. Later, he made up the very term "holography". However, the world recognition of his discovery and the heyday of holography came only a decade later, thanks to the invention of the laser in 1960.

A century ago, in 1921, the great scientist of the 20th century, the creator of the theory of relativity, Albert Einstein, became the Nobel Prize laureate in Physics. It was he who discovered the photoelectric effect, for which Einstein received the highest award in science.

The 3D-Gram-C® patch design depicts contour portraits of scientists and the anniversary dates of the Nobel Prize. The concise design and mirror composition of the elements emphasize the colour-changing effect of the new security feature. When the banknote is rotated 180° a contrasting colour change of the images appears. The colours of the elements change places from red to green and vice versa. The security patch is made using 3D-Gram-Colour® technology with a mirror effect.

The presentation of the house banknote and detailed information about the new security feature will be announced later this year.
