We continue to demonstrate the security effects of 3D-Gram® photopolymer holograms. Today, the focus is on covert security features. Hidden effects complicate the security element and increase the level of protection of the hologram, thus creating an additional barrier against imitation and forgery. Covert features are not visible in normal light and are only visualized under special conditions. Our new hologram "Dubna Science Park" contains hidden images identified in a point light source.

Design
The design of the hologram commemorates the 65th anniversary of Dubna, a leading science center in Russia. In Dubna the production site of KRYPTEN is located. It is the hometown for many employees of the company. The science center is known in Russia and abroad as a center for research in nuclear physics. The construction of the NICA collider, an international mega-science project to study the properties of nuclear matter, is being completed in the city. Therefore, the design of the hologram emphasizes the contribution of Dubna to the development of modern science. The hologram displays a symbolic model of the atomic structure – the coat of arms of the city surrounded by the electron orbits. The theme of the motion of atomic particles continues with the background image of guilloche lines. They resemble the shape of the orbits, adding dynamics and stylistically completing the composition.
Overt security effects
The hologram is made using 3D-Gram-C® (Colour) technology. It enables creating objects of different colours, unlike 3D-Gram-M® (Monochrome) holograms, where only one colour is used. For the hologram “Dubna Science Park” we chose the colours of the city's coat of arms – green and blue.
The main elements of the image reproduce the mirror effect. This visual effect of a smooth surface stands out perfectly against the background of intense colours specific to photopolymer holograms. Extra security is added by microlenses with a floating glare effect and microtexts. The user can easily identify the visible security effects of mirrors and microlenses in daylight.
Covert security effects
The next level of hologram security is provided by covert security effects. The “Dubna Science Park” includes two hidden elements. They are placed in the electrons. One electron contains an image of the Dubna stele, a famous monument of the city. Another electron “hides” a fragment of Mendeleev’s periodic table. The 105th element of the table Dubnium is named after the city. This highly radioactive element was first obtained in Dubna by scientists from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
Hidden objects inside the electrons are revealed in point source illumination. Significantly, being several times larger than electrons the overt images are easily visualized at different viewing angles. Images of the stele and elements of the periodic table are made with the full parallax effect.
Such overt features increase hologram security combining sophisticated technology and simple identification. The user can visualize hidden images without special control devices by pointing the flashlight of a mobile phone at the object.
Application
3D-Gram® photopolymer holograms will be the right solution to protect your goods and packaging against counterfeiting. Bright effects of photopolymer images emphasize the high quality of your product. The combination of visible visual effects and covert elements creates a tailor-made hologram with a high level of protection. Intuitive identification ensures that the buyer accurately distinguishes an original product with a 3D-Gram® hologram from a fake.
