Sergey Borisovich Odinokov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, a leading Russian scientist in the field of holography and optoelectronics, has untimely died at the age of 72. For many years, KRYPTEN in close collaboration with the laboratory led by Sergey Odinokov has conducted scientific researches and developed new optical technologies for security printing.
After graduating from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Sergey Odinokov devoted his professional life to research work and the development of holography in Russia. In the 1990s, at his home university, he found a laboratory of optical and holographic systems. And later in 2004, with the support of “the father of Russian holography”, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yu. N. Denisyuk, he organized the International scientific and technical conference on holography HOLOEXPO.
His fundamental knowledge, expertise, and exceptional professionalism have brought Dr. Odinokov wide fame and recognition among the world's holographic community. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, the owner of 23 patents and 20 copyright certificates.
In the last 17 years, it was he who united the scientific community, leading the largest holographic conference in Russia and the CIS, HOLOEXPO. His colleagues have always highly regarded his dedication and commitment to the continuing development of holographic science in Russia.
Beyond his scientific activities, Dr. Odinokov generously shared his knowledge and fatherly support with his students. He put much effort in supervising many young talented researchers, including four Ph. D. students.
Sergey Borisovich Odinokov will always remain an example of true professionalism, vital energy, and optimism.
